All of our elastic shock cord, whatever the size, is brand new, genuine shock cord. It is of two component construction with an extremely tough woven outer sheath* covering a multi-strand rubber core. The cord is light-weight, strong, wear-resistant and long lasting. All of our shock cord is capable of 100% (+/- 10%) elongation. Most of our stock cord is black or white, although we keep some lines in different colours and can respond to specific requests.
Please note that the shock cord diameters quoted here are nominal. Cords of up to 6mm diameter typically vary up to ±20%, cords of 8mm or above up to ±10%. Actual cord diameters are most often smaller than nominal diameters. Customers with particularly specific requirements should contact us for measured batch diameters and/or to request samples.
2mm Diameter
Typical applications include lightweight tent pole shock-cord, sportswear, daysacks, super light-weight luggage nets etc.
3mm Diameter
Typical applications include tent pole shock-cord and peg loops, outdoor clothing and rucksack cords, light-weight luggage nets, tie downs for tarpaulins, light covers etc.
4mm Diameter
Typical applications include large tent and awning pole shock-cord, peg loops, outdoor clothing and rucksack cords. Ideal for canoes, kayaks and other small boats. Also use for luggage nets, tie downs for tarpaulins, car/boat/trailer covers etc.
5mm Diameter
Ideal for light-weight luggage straps, luggage nets, tie downs for tarpaulins, car/boat/trailer covers etc. Widely used on garden/outdoor furniture and on canoes, kayaks and other small boats.
6mm Diameter
The 6mm cord is used for lightweight tarpaulins and soft covers, boat covers and some garden furniture etc. It can be used to make light bungee/luggage straps, tie-downs or luggage nets. Hosts of automotive, caravanning, camping, boating, leisure, sport and outdoor uses.
8mm Diameter
The 8mm cord is particularly suitable for tarpaulin/soft cover tie-downs for trailers, pick-ups, roof-racks, boats, trampolines and garden furniture etc. It can be used to make specific length bungee/luggage straps, tie-downs or luggage nets. Hosts of other automotive, caravanning, camping, boating, leisure, sport and outdoor uses.
10mm Diameter
The 10mm cord is particularly suitable for heavy duty tarpaulin/soft cover tie-downs for trailers, pick-ups, roof-racks, and curtain-sides. There are numerous marine/boating applications. It's also used for trampolines and garden furniture etc. It can be used to make specific length very heavy duty bungee/luggage straps, tie-downs or luggage nets. All of our shock cord has hosts of automotive, caravanning, camping, boating, leisure, sport and outdoor uses.
12 & 14mm Diameter
Our heaviest duty cord is particularly suitable for adult trampolines, heavy
duty tarpaulins, tents and stalls, tie-downs for trailers, pick-ups, roof-racks,
and curtain-sides, marine/boating applications. All of our shock cord has hosts of automotive,
caravanning, camping, boating, leisure, sport and outdoor uses.
How we sell our cord.
We price by specific lengths, but if you want more, simply increase the quantity. Orders are always supplied as continuous lengths, up to a maximum of 100 metres for 2, 3, 4 and 5mm cord and 50 metres for 8mm+ cord. * Most of our 6-14mm cord has a woven polypropylene outer sheath, as this is highly wear-resistant and suited to outdoor use. Most of our 2-5mm cord is supplied with a polyester sheath, which, whilst also highly wear resistant, is more colourfast and offers a better grip to cord locks and other controls.
